What counts as a «long» transfer?
Anything beyond Oslo itself. Flytoget covers Gardermoen to the city centre in 20 minutes, and for that trip the train is often the smartest choice. But if you’re heading to Lillehammer, the ski resorts of Gudbrandsdalen, Trysil, Hemsedal or Geilo — or the other way, from the mountains to an early morning flight — you’re looking at one and a half to three hours of driving, often with public-transport changes that eat up the time you saved in the air.
